Bahia de las Aguilas

(1 Vote)

8 km of beach along the southwest coast of the Dominican Republic, on the border with Haiti, Bahia de las Aguilas is a pristine paradise, away from it all and, perhaps for this reason, still subject to mass tourism.

The bay is a UNESCO nature reserve, part of the Jaragua National Park - in the province of Pedernales - and is considered by many dominicans and visitors lucky, as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Along the road between the beach and the park, it's easy to spot iguanas, pelicans and several species of cactus, as well as many caves and pools of water present in the rock formations. The turtles come here to lay their eggs every year. You can reach Bahia de las Aguilas through the park (with a 4x4 vehicle) or with a boat departing from Cabo Rojo, where, however, this is the only restaurant called "La Cueva". Here you will find always fresh fish and lobsters.

Thousands of small shells on the beach, turquoise waters, white sand, light wind... make Bahia de las Aguilas a true oasis of the Jaragua National Park.
